Looks like my baby hummingbird photoset is making the rounds again and people are concerned about the handling. Folks, birds have a very limited sense of smell, handling baby birds will NOT cause mothers to reject them.

I remember an elementary school teacher I had saying something like that, before I found out they don’t have much of a sense of smell and realized it was bunk.

#you should return them to the nest #or somewhere where their parents can find them

And also wash your hands afterwards, of  course.
